When is the best time to visit Turkey and why?

As a traveler, you need to know when you should visit. There are many factors to consider when deciding when to go, but the best time of year depends on what you’re looking for!

The best time to visit Turkey is during April, May, June, and September. These are all great months for travelers because they offer some relief from the heat of summer.

Some people might want to see the snow-capped mountains in wintertime, while others might want to experience Istanbul’s bazaar without tourists. If you plan your trip right, there’s no wrong time of year.

In the southern part of Turkey, there are hot summer months with temperatures reaching up to 45 degrees Celsius. The best time to visit this subtropical region would be the spring season or fall seasons.

What are the top attractions in Turkey?

It would be best if you always got to know a place before you travel there. You can really do yourself out of a fantastic trip by not doing your research first. If you are looking for a new destination to explore, Turkey may be just what you needed.

From the salt lake in Cappadocia with its spectacular rock formations carved by wind and water erosion throughout hundreds of years to Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia (a former church-turned-mosque now a museum).

Whether you want sun or snow, mountains or sea, this country has something for everyone. Let us explain the top attractions of Turkey.

-> The Hagia Sophia:

The Hagia Sophia is a worship venue, built-in 537 C.E. The marble was designed as an Orthodox Christian Church and converted into a mosque after 1453.

A historic place located in İstanbul (formerly Constantinople). It is a UNESCO World Heritage site which has survived earthquakes, fires, and plundering over its history.

Today it serves as a museum where you can see Byzantine mosaics still preserved inside the church walls.

-> The Roman Coliseum:

The Roman Coliseum- the largest amphitheater ever built! You will find this ancient landmark overlooking present-day Istanbul near the Besiktas district on the European side of the city.

Not to be confused with other ruins that are also called by this name across Europe, this one dates back to around 90 A.D.

-> Troy:

Troy is a historic site at the western tip of Turkey’s Anatolia Peninsula. The place was originally an ancient city-state that existed in 3200 BC by the Aegean Sea.

It is essential to many historians because of its cultural and historical significance. It is called “the legendary city of Troy.”.

-> Hierapolis Ancient City:

A former city in what is now Turkey’s Hatay Govurun Province. It is the most magical ancient city ever”!

Hierapolis is one of the oldest archaeological sites in all of Turkey. It was created around 190 BCE by Romans occupying Anatolia. It had a great diversity to offer its visitors for thousands of years. And it began falling into disrepair during the Crusades.

You will see the main attraction of Hierapolis are the thermal baths. These baths used by Cleopatra.

Since then, Hierapolis has been continuously occupied with many different cultures, including Greeks, Byzantines, Seljuk Turks, and more recently Italians coming here to bathe themselves before leaving their bodies behind within this spiritual mountain range that seemingly holds millennia worth of secrets from ancient civilizations pasts!

-> The Crystal Blue Sea:

Whether you want to relax on a beach or go scuba diving, Turkey offers both options along with an abundance of underwater life

The Mediterranean Sea is known for its lovely beaches and the sunken mysterious cities and treasures there like Cleopatra’s Palace, where ancient artifacts are aplenty.

-> The Blue Mosque:

The name “Blue Mosque” was given to this site because of the blue tiles which decorate its interior.

In all their glory, these are some of the finest examples of Islamic architecture known to have been created in Turkey and were received as a present from Sultan Ahmed III’s wife during construction in 1616 C.E.

It is located across from the Hagia Sophia on the other side of Istiklal Avenue and is considered an absolute must-see when visiting Istanbul!

-> Galata Tower:

An iconic tower built by Genoese residents that still stands tall near Taksim Square today!

This slender stone tower once served as a watchtower before becoming a jail for political prisoners.

Galata Tower was later renovated into a clock tower, an observatory. It eventually became a popular meeting place in Taksim Square on April 24th, 1871 (the day that Sultan Abdülaziz of the Ottoman Empire died).

The image of this tower situated amongst the buildings below is one of my favorites in Istanbul!

A traveller should visit these beautiful places.

Can I Bring Any Food or Drinks into Turkey with Me When I Arrive at Customs?

As a traveler coming to Turkey, you will need to do your research before arriving at customs.

If you want to bring any food or drinks into the country with you, I will recommend you to check the list of items allowed on Turkish Airlines’ website.

They also have information about what types of food and drinks can be bought duty-free for personal use.

One more thing, if you want to bring any other food items with you, make sure they don’t contain meat or dairy products as these will be confiscated by the customs agents.

What Should I Expect from the Weather in Turkey at Different Times of Year?

Turkey has four distinct seasons, and the weather can change drastically from one season to another. In Turkey, summer is hot, but it’s definitely not as hot as the U.S. Southwest or South Africa.

There are two rainy periods: Early summer (late May) and Late summer (mid-September).

The winter months are cold for those who live in Istanbul because they’re on sea level, but coastal areas have milder temperatures than inland provinces.

Spring comes late to Turkey; usually March at the earliest. So if you travel during the time of year, take preparation for chilly nights, even during daytime hours!

Which Regions are Best to Visit During Which Seasons?

No matter what time of year you’re considering a visit, there’s plenty to see and do in Turkey. From the Mediterranean coastline to the majestic snowy mountains up north, it can be difficult to decide which region is best for your interests.

If you’re planning your next vacation or thinking about traveling there soon, here are some basics on which regions are best during which seasons:

-Spring offers milder temperatures and fewer crowds than any other season; however, springtime in Istanbul can be rainy.

-Summer brings lots of sunshine with high humidity levels and frequent rainstorms; this may be the best time for beach vacations as hotels and restaurants are much more affordable.

-Fall is not too cold or crowded, and offers a chance to enjoy Turkey’s natural beauty when flowers are in bloom and forests are turning red

How Does the Weather Change throughout the Year in Turkey?

Turkey’s climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers. In winter the south has a dry continental climate, and the north experiences colder weather.

The warmest months are June to September, where temperatures can reach as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 Celsius).

When it comes to rain, southeast Anatolia is relatively dry but west Anatolia gets more precipitation in autumn/winter than any other part of Turkey.

It’s a question that many parents have asked themselves. Should I let my children go on their own to a foreign country, or should I accompany them?

If you’re deciding whether or not to bring your kids along on your next trip abroad, then this article may help you decide.

Turkey offers a safe place for all, including children. But you need to keep in mind something, if you travel solo.

Children under the age of 18 will need an “Unaccompanied Minor Travel Form.”

Without this form, most airlines won’t allow unaccompanied minors on flights without an accompanying adult present and with signature authority over the child’s passport.
